Professional over-ear headphone with effortless, high-resolution sound
Featuring Moondrop’s newly developed 50mm ULT dynamic driver, dual neodymium magnets, and a lightweight, angled design, The Moondrop Horizon delivers rich tonality, ultra-low distortion, and an immersive soundstage. Easy to drive yet capable of scaling with serious equipment, it’s a versatile headphone that’s great for newcomers and veterans alike.
featherlight and easy to drive
The Horizon is light on your head and easy to drive. At just 32Ω impedance and 109dB/Vrms sensitivity, it doesn’t need a dedicated amp—though it scales with one. You can plug it into a laptop, portable DAC, or a serious desktop rig and still hear its low-distortion, full-range performance.
a new kind of dynamic driver
After two years of design and testing, the Moondrop’s 50mm ULT dynamic driver is tuned for linearity, bandwidth, and low distortion. Expect wide dynamic range, smooth highs, punchy bass, and a balanced sound that keeps you locked in.
powerful magnets, precise motion
The driver’s dual internal-external composite magnetic circuit uses two N55 neodymium magnets to reach a peak flux density of 1.85T—unusually high for a headphone of this type. More magnetic flux means better control of the diaphragm’s motion and more energy efficiency, translating to clean transients and a more effortless sound.
titanium meets liquid silica gel
The diaphragm uses a titanium-plated PEN polymer dome combined with a double-layer liquid silica gel suspension. This hybrid approach improves rigidity, damping, and reliability, keeping treble extension crisp while allowing for long, low-frequency strokes without breakup. The liquid silica gel suspension also handles larger amplitudes with stability.
angled for your ears
Inside the cups, the driver sits at an intentional angle to better align with your ears’ natural shape. This design helps sound waves reach your ear from the front at a more realistic angle, creating a wider and more immersive soundstage with natural diffusion and better timbre.
clean and calm sound
The Horizon’s frequency response follows Moondrop’s VDSF target, with a relaxed and even-handed tuning. The sub-bass reaches down to 80Hz free-field, rare for an open dynamic driver. Highs are smooth and detailed, and the mids remain uncolored. Harmonic distortion sits below 0.1% at 1kHz, so fine details in your music come through without harshness or smearing.
cables your way
The dual 3.5mm connectors make cable swapping straightforward. The Horizon comes with both a 3.5mm single-ended and a 4.4mm balanced cable in the box, so you can pair it with whatever source you prefer without hunting for adapters.
